Housing Week in Middle-Earth #18 – Results

You’ve waited patiently and here they are !

After a week and a half of visits and votes, it is time to present the results of the 18th edition of Housing Week in Middle-Earth!

Again I would like to thank all of the participants for this competition. Whether you were chosen for the final round or not, I hope you decide to participate again in future contests.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful members of the jury who have accompanied me for this contest ! :).

I gathered all the data and there were a total of 51 votes in the ballot box. Congratulations and thank you again !

As a reminder, the final score for each house is obtained by the average weighted score of the public (60%) and the jury (40%). Scenario, alone, designates the winner of Scenario's Choice.

#3 - Elvendom

Audience average: 6.666 - Jury average: 8.1 - Final score: 7.24

Khelsi:

"Lovely flower garden. Very pretty and lush interior, it's relaxing as can be. The harmony between the basic house and the plant decoration was well executed."

Yao:

"I was expecting an Elven Kingdom, I got one ! Nicely done ;)"

 #2 - Dark Lord

Audience average: 7.305 - Jury average: 7.7 - Final score: 7.46

Khelsi:

"Not very welcoming, but in a good way. The interior is well done and very coherent, with a theme that's well respected."

Yao:

"I can't even imagine how messy building something like that can be. Well done, I had a lot of fun discovering every corner of that house."

#1 - Parmad Mellyn Hir Elrandor

Audience average: 7.55 - Jury average: 8.8 - Final score: 8.05

Yao:

"Almost perfect house. Really liked the Bilbo scenery and the Umbar like library. Congratz'."

Khelsi:

"A very harmonious yard. The entrance to the Umbar library is gorgeous, a real eye-catcher. All the color tones are well coordinated and warm. The interior library is also very well arranged in a totally different style."

Nago:

"The entrance with the palm tree in the center is very welcoming. Everything is perfectly arranged. I love it!"

I extend my congratulations to the winners of the 18th Housing Week in Middle Earth :).

Scenario decided to award this price to Elvendom.

Scenario:

"It was really great seeing a variety of Kinship locations represented in this contest. There were a surprising amount of original homestead Kinship homes, which is great to see considering those properties have much less flexibility than the premium Kinship homes. In fact, only one of my top 5 picks this time around feature a premium Kinship hall.

Elvendom is a great example of an original Kinship hall that does a lot with little. A simply decorated yard leads to a very nicely decorated interior that feels like stepping into a high quality greenhouse.

L’institut des VerteFeuille has a beautiful and natural looking exterior leading to a cozy library interior.

Parmad Mellyn Hir Elrandor feels like you are discovering an ageless Elven compound, and all the somehow, all the ancient lore it stored remains untouched in the interior. I really like the layout of both, but I think mixing in Umbar themed assets in the interior muddies the theme a little bit.

Ture la Paire has a nice and uncrowded yard full of different ruins and structures which evoke the feeling of an abandoned complex as well. The interior is very nicely and thoroughly decorated but they don't feel crowded while you are exploring around it.

Verdant Sea, to me, represents the most impressive total transformation of a property out of the whole lot. Taking a Bree-land home and turning it into an Umbari Row-house. The interior very successfully protrays a simple tavern and inn - though it could use some more Umbari touches to bring the exterior and interior themes together more closely.

My Over-all Pick:

Elvendom - The interior is simple beautiful without being busy. I can imagine stepping in, taking a deep breath of the humid greenhouse air, and exploring around the various gardens within."

You'll receive your rewards tomorrow!

And so end this edition of Housing Week in Middle Earth.

Thanks everyone !
